Superintendent’s Message

On behalf of the Board of Education and Administration of the Central Islip Union Free School District, I would like to congratulate you as your children have completed a successful 2018-2019 School Year.

During the past few weeks, I have had the pleasure of attending Moving Up ceremonies at our middle and elementary schools and Commencement for the Central Islip High School Class of 2019. It is heartwarming to see how our young children have transformed into confident young adults in what seems like the blink of an eye. It was gratifying to see all that our children have accomplished this past year and equally as exciting to have observed them as they moved up well prepared for the next chapter in their educational experiences. None of this would be possible without the support which you provide at home and our talented and caring faculty and support staff who are there for our children – to educate them, to support them and to guide them each and every school day.

If you have a child who is moving up to the middle or high school, please be aware of the numerous programs that are offered to them throughout the summer and once school opens in September. Stay connected with your child’s school, become involved with its Parent-Teacher Association, and together we will make 2019-2020 an exciting and memorable school year for our students.

I want to also thank the community for supporting the 2019-2020 School Budget. This is a fiscally responsible budget that provides a strong academic curriculum as well as sports, music, art and community service opportunities for our students to experience.

While the school year has closed and summer vacation is upon us, many of our school officials are working throughout the summer to ensure a smooth and seamless transition into the 2019-2020 School Year for our children. In pursuit of continued academic excellence, our Board of Education, Administration, Faculty and Staff remain committed to providing a safe educational environment and the most fulfilling and rewarding learning experiences for our students.

Please enjoy a safe, fun and enjoyable summer.

Sincerely,

Howard M. Koenig, Ph.D.
