The Central Islip School District promotes reading as an integral part of students' studies throughout their academic careers in Grades Pre-K through twelfth.  Parents As Reading Partners and People As Reading Partners is designed, in part, to bring families and community members as well as public and elected officials and retired teachers into our schools to share reading experiences. Images in this slide show depict some of the enthusiasm and excitement of the launch of this year's People As Reading Partners at O'Neill Elementary School, followed by various reading, literacy and language arts activities. O'Neill Teacher, Allison Philips who coordinates the annual event at O'Neill, together with O'Neill Elementary Principal Kristine LoCascio, thank the guest readers who read to the students, the faculty and staff who transformed the hallways of their school into a reading wonderland, families who participated in the literacy event, PTA for donating breakfast for the guest readers, and Superintendent of Schools Dr. Howard M. Koenig for his continued support to promote literacy at all grade levels.
